I enjoy bringing projects from conception to completion, and the satisfaction it brings when I see the finished product. Although not in the physical space, the web development career gives me a similar challenge and sense of gratification. I pick up new concepts, and technologies quickly, and am able to adapt to new ways of thinking.
“StarkGotSole” was an event business I founded in the later years of high school. I recognized a need locally to have an event where people could buy/sell/trade their streetwear.
It was an immediate success and grew quickly.
Within the first several shows we outgrew the original church gym location, and held events at the University of Akron ballroom.
I hired staff to help with each event (ticketing, concessions, police, customer service), ran all social media, and built the website to further our reach.
From the start it was about community,
and throughout our five years of operation, after each show we donated 10% of profits to purchasing brand new shoes for our local homeless shelter. I donated hundreds of shoes,
connected many people, and learned valuable lessons along the way.
As a highly disciplined individual, I set my own goal to teach myself these frontend skills. After several physical textbooks, online courses, and countless hours of building my skills. I felt confident enough to take a certification exam through W3schools.com, and passed.
Currently working with the leaders at Gemini on exact content to import to the framework I have built them. This was the previous company I worked at, and I took it upon myself to update their website. They decided to move forward with this build, and pay me for my time.
After creating the Gemini website above I thought this Akron marathon website would be a good challenge to clone using bootstrap. The customized carousels, navigation, footer we great practice using my bootstrap and JavaScript skills learned this far.
